Northumberland CVA is proud to be part of a regional partnership that is making a real difference across the North East, helping people move from isolation into active participation in their communities and local economy.
The UKSPF Volunteering & Social Action Project has supported residents to take meaningful steps forward, building confidence, skills and connections through volunteering. Delivered through a strong partnership led by North Tyneside VODA, the project brings together Connected Voice, Volunteering Matters, CVA Blyth Valley, Community Action Northumberland, Northumberland CVA and The Key.
The final independent evaluation, carried out by Goodlabs Consulting, highlights the strength of this approach. Their findings show how a “relational infrastructure” built on trust, support and local knowledge is helping to change lives across the region.
Alongside this impact, the project has also exceeded key delivery targets. A total of 331 new volunteer opportunities were created, surpassing the original target by 131, with 312 roles successfully filled. These results reflect the strength of partnership working and the effectiveness of Supported Volunteering models delivered across the North East.
The evaluation also reinforces the wider strategic value of volunteering. It recognises volunteering as a vital “preparatory and activation layer” within the regional economy, helping people overcome barriers and move closer to employment, training and community involvement. In doing so, the partnership is supporting the ambitions of the North East Combined Authority and contributing to a more inclusive economy.
This work has been made possible through funding from the UK Government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund, delivered locally by the North East Combined Authority. Together, partners have demonstrated what can be achieved when the voluntary sector is recognised and invested in as a core part of regional infrastructure.
