5 reasons to join NCVA
NCVA exists to enable the community and voluntary organisations in Northumberland to develop and succeed. We work to grow the voice, influence and reach of the voluntary and community sector with a thirty year track record of success.
Here are five good reasons for your organisation to become a member:
Advice
Get access to advice and expertise to help for your charity, your club or your community group.
From setting up a new group, through maintaining effective governance to organising campaigns and activity in and for the community, NCVA will provide expertise and guidance. We can provide the right guidance to get your organisation fit for funding. We can put you in touch with mentors, suggest and deliver appropriate training and offer examples of best practice to guide your activity. Every member organisation is entitled to a package of consultation and advice each year as well as discounts on further activity and training.
Information
NCVA has all the information you need to be more effective in the community.
Member organisations have access to NCVA’s library of advice sheets and briefings available from the members’ area of this site. Members also received regular updates and briefings on new developments affecting charities and voluntary organisations through regular email briefings and additions to the library as well as highlighting opportunities to fund your organisation’s projects. NCVA also provides practical services that are particularly helpful to smaller organisations.
Voice
Help amplify the voice of community and voluntary groups.
As well as being a network of voluntary and community organisations NCVA acts as an advocate for those organisations. All voluntary and community organisations face similar issues. By becoming a member organisation you will have full voting rights at our AGM. We make it easy for you to help through our member surveys. You will add your view to the mix and help us extend the common interest of the voluntary and community sector in Northumberland by making our voice heard in the country and beyond.
Network
NCVA helps bring your group together with others, to get new ideas and achieve more together than you can alone.
Whether the objectives are short term or ongoing there is often a lot to be gained from groups working together. NCVA uses its knowledge of Northumberland and its voluntary organisations to spot opportunities for partnership and the funding that can flow from it. NCVA also organises and maintains networks involving organisations around common interest across the county exchanging ideas and good practice. Your group can get involved if they are appropriate to your ongoing work or one-off projects.
People
Take advantage of NCVA’s networks to find and train the people you need.
As well as listing your organisation in our directories you can find volunteers for your activity through our ‘Simply Connect’ volunteer opportunity matching service. You can seek out appropriate people to act as trustees and train the people already involved through our specialist training programme for the voluntary and community sector organisations. And, if your organisation employs people and you are looking for staff, you can advertise job vacancies FREE.
And it’s FREE …
Joining NCVA is free, so long as your organisation meet the criteria (it isn’t onerous – you can check that out here).
… but what’s the catch?
There really isn’t a catch, but we do ask you for a little help.
NCVA conducts surveys of its members to ensure that we can be a voice effective voice for community and voluntary organisations, and to get the information we need to meet the needs of our members more effectively.
So in return for a membership subscription we ask every organisation to take part so the picture we get is clear. We make it easy for every organisation to take part – and we are always grateful for your contribution.
It’s a good deal – everybody wins!
