Tanga Club
As part of our sustainable growth objective, Tanga Club – a registered charity for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and their families – is looking for an enthusiastic and well organised Project and Fundraising Co-ordinator.
We have ambitious plans to ensure that the needs of our ever-growing beneficiary group continue to be met and that the charity remains inclusive and accessible.
Reporting to our CEO, the Project and Fundraising Co-ordinator will work on a wide variety of tasks.
The Role
This new role will initially be offered for a 6 month fixed-term, which will be extended to a permanent position subject to funding. The successful candidate will have experience in fundraising, both from writing funding applications to grant giving organisations and trusts, and ideally with experience of other fundraising strategies such as events and corporate giving / CSR. The role will also require good organisational skills to ensure that reporting is completed on time and deadlines are met.
The project co-ordination aspect of the role will involve arranging events and activities for our beneficiaries as well as undertaking the essential administrative and communication tasks to help make our sustainable growth plans a reality. Knowledge of the charity sector and/or finance is a bonus.
The Project and Fundraising Co-ordinator will not necessarily have formal project management experience, but must be able to pull together a wide-ranging set of requirements.
We are happy to discuss flexible working hours and would be happy to discuss hours which fit around caring / childcare responsibilities.
Experience, either lived or professional, of working with children who have SEND is desirable, but training can be provided.
Principal Duties
These will include:
- Organising events and activities using online booking systems
- Securing funding from grant giving organisations, trusts and other sources compliant with charity law, and maintaining a funding pipeline
- Reporting to funders, stakeholders, trustees and beneficiaries as required
- Collating & communicating data relevant to the charity and its fundersIdentifying and engaging with a wide range of key stakeholders, such as beneficiaries, funders, local businesses and consultants
- Assisting with scheduling of tasks and meetings
- Reporting as necessary to the CEO and Trustees
- Helping to define project aims, needs and budgets in line with our strategic charity priorities
- Obtaining quotations, costings and event options
- Assisting with policy and procedural considerations

The successful applicant must be trustworthy, and have:
- Excellent organisational skills, able to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Manage workload independently and self-motivation and able to work without close supervision.
- A capacity to learn new systems quickly and thoroughly (experience of trello/bookwhen/canva would be advantageous).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in standard office software packages (e.g. Microsoft Word and Excel).
- Awareness of their responsibility to protect the safety and promote the welfare of beneficiaries – confidentiality is essential.
- A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check – provided by us upon receipt of references and an offer of employment.
- It would be an advantage to an applicant to have:
- An education standard to at least “A” Level or equivalent.
- Project management experience.
- Previous experience with the charitable sector.
- Enthusiasm for supporting people with special educational needs and disabilities.
Salary
£14.50 per hour with potential to increase subject to funding
Hours and terms
Part time – 17.5 hours per week
Initial 6 month contract (which we are seeking to extend, subject to funding)
Location
Hybrid role – Hexham office and home working (flexible working policy in place)
