We have exceeded our participation target: 2024 unemployed or economically inactive Northumberland residents have benefited by joining Bridge to find work or training.
Many of the people Bridge has supported have been long term unemployed; people out of the labour market for many years or who have never been in work. 1102 of the participants were economically inactive; people not claiming benefits but of working age and looking to find work or training.
Bridge Northumberland has delivered a positive gain to both the local economy and the public purse by bringing unemployed and economically inactive people into the labour market, thus providing a saving to the benefits bill and delivering a gain in taxes paid and productivity.

Bridge Partner Lead, Northumberland CVA Chief Executive, Caroline Rogan said:
“Very few people really want to be out of work. If it was just a matter of learning how to write a cv and search the internet the problem would have been cracked long since. Unfortunately, one size doesn’t fit all and there are often multiple barriers to be overcome.
“Bridge has also been able to reach people where they are in our very rural county. We have done this by using community organisations on the ground, who know their patch and the communities they serve. I’m really proud of everyone who has been involved and I’m delighted with the results we have achieved together.”
