The Wooler Young Peoples Association (Wooler Drop-In) is seeking new trustees to join its board.

Wooler Drop- In Centre was created in 1997 in response to a lack of activities and resources for young people in the local area, we formed under the charity name Wooler Young Peoples Association in 2003. The Drop-In provides youth services for people aged between 11 and 19 years. We offer social opportunities, activities and advice which otherwise could not be reached. We provide both a service open to all young people in the locality of Wooler, and targeted support, in response to particular issues or needs.

Our charity provides a vital service for local young people from Wooler and the surrounding areas.

In 2020 we have had to diversify our service to meet with COVID19 restrictions and government guidelines. We are heading into a new project offering wellbeing sessions and activity pack delivery for young people. The project is managed by our Youth Project Manager and ran by a small team of part time staff. We are looking to access new grant funding and increase our income to enable more young people to access new activities and opportunities.

We are seeking between two and four new trustees who can bring new skills and diversity to our committee. We are interested in hearing from potential trustees with a link to the local schools or wider community who can challenge us to take on new projects, establish innovative approaches to fundraising and help us to raise our profile.

As a trustee you will attend roughly 6 meetings per year. In between meetings, you will work closely with other members of the board to develop and enable activity such as marketing and communications, fundraising events or new project ideas. You will be passionate about supporting young people and giving young people access to high quality experiences, wellbeing support and new opportunities.

The trustees do not work directly with children or young people.
