COVID-19 has had a devastating effect on the labour market and more and more people are struggling to find work. Now workless people in South East Northumberland can book a place on our next 6-week SkillsUNeed course to increase their chances of success in applying for jobs. Sessions start on 13th January at the YMCA, Ashington. To keep people safe from coronavirus, places are limited.
With funding from the Coalfields Regeneration Trust, Northumberland CVA's Skills4U support sessions will help people develop the vital skills they need to make sure they are in the running for the jobs that are out there.
SkillsUNeed is a 6-week course. Sessions will take place once a week, every Wednesday for 6 weeks, until 17th February. Each socially-distanced session will last for around 6 hours. Lunch and refreshments will be provided, although we are unable to provide travel expenses. Participants will learn how to:
- Write the perfect CV
- Carry out effective job searches
- Complete engaging application forms
- Learn how to be successful at interview
- Prepare for work
- Manage on a budget
We will also have guest speakers talking about topics such as benefits entitlement, further education courses, free training, careers advice and living a healthy lifestyle.
All appropriate COVID-19 precautions will be in place to ensure the safety of participants. Social distancing means we are able to offer limited spaces so it is first come, first served.
