Northumberland CVA (the operating name of Wansbeck CVS) developed The Vantage Fund in memory of Sheila McGuckin, Wansbeck CVS’s Chief Executive and community sector champion, who died suddenly in February 2010.

Limited donations to the fund has meant that it has not been active for a short while, but it has recently received donations that will enable the fund to focus on reducing the impact of child poverty during 2020. If you are interested in donating to the fund, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Voluntary and community sector organisations (including PTAs and Schools) based in the old Wansbeck District of South East Northumberland are eligible to apply for grants up a maximum of £1000. Organisations (other than schools) must have an income of no more than £100,000 and priority will be given to smaller organisations.

Applicants must be members or associate members of Northumberland CVA.

Examples of possible projects:

  • breakfast clubs in schools

  • activities that often exclude those children in poverty

  • reducing school holiday hunger

  • clothing schemes

Applications are by a short expression of interest with a deadline of 9th December. Groups successful at this stage will be invited to come and discuss their project at a date to be agreed in January 2020.
