New Cultural Fund for Northumberland

Northumberland County Council is planning to launch a new fund to help support new arts and cultural events taking place over the summer.

If approved the Northumberland Cultural Fund would support new event organisers in the delivery of their event. The fund is due to be signed off by the council’s cabinet on Tuesday April 9th.

The fund was discussed by the corporate services and economic growth committee. it was clarified that groups could bid for small grants of around £200, with most around £1,000 to £2,000. Events cannot be chargeable; access must be free to residents of Northumberland. The fund is for new events and to be eligible, an existing event would have to demonstrate a new element.

Events organisers would be able to bid for a share of the £100,000 fund and it is anticipated that it will be used for small projects, aimed at supporting the programme of County wide activities and would not be intended to fund large scale events.

Applications can be made for events in any creative genre, by a constituted group, charity or Not for Profit organisation but the fund can not be used to fund 100% of the event.

The deadline for bids is expected to be 24th May 2019 with applicants informed in early June.

We will provide further information as soon as it becomes available.

More details are available on Northumberland County Council's website.
