As part of the Admin and Finance team you will pro-actively provide efficient administrative, financial and operational support services to Woodhorn Charitable Trust by assisting and carrying out a variety of tasks. To succeed you will need to be self-motivated, flexible, have a ‘hands on’ approach and the ability to work well under pressure, as part of a team or on your own initiative. Experience in administration ideally in the cultural sector will be advantageous.

North Tyneside Voluntary Organisations Development Agency (VODA) supports volunteers and the voluntary and community sector within the borough. Their Volunteer Centre Manager will be covering maternity leave from October and, consequently, they will require someone to backfill his post.

The Volunteer Centre Manager provides effective and efficient management of the Volunteer Centre, ensuring a co-ordinated approach delivers positive outcomes for volunteers of all ages and backgrounds. Key objectives are to increase the quality, quantity and diversity of volunteers and volunteering opportunities across North Tyneside. There are three elements to this position centring on strategic work, operational matters and the general management of the Volunteer Centre and its staff.

To be considered for the post you must have a clear, in-depth understanding of strategic policy issues relating to volunteering at a local, regional and national level and be able to co-ordinate effective responses that adhere to good practice. You will have several years’ experience of working with a range of volunteers during which you will have delivered training and presentations and been instrumental in developing and implementing monitoring and evaluation methods. Being able to manage all aspects of a project, including staff and budgets, is essential to the smooth running of the Volunteer Centre.

This role requires you to be adept at multi-tasking and being able to manage several projects each with its own unique demands. You will use all you communication, organisational and financial management skills to co-ordinate the effective and efficient operation of the Volunteer Centre and its pivotal role within VODA as a whole.

Smoke Free Families

 

A new campaign, “Secondhand Smoke is Poison”, was launched by Fresh on 22nd June 2017.  It is supported by the British Lung Foundation and funded by 11 local authorities in the North East. 

 

The campaign incorporates TV advertising on Tyne Tees TV (reach of est. 1.3 million adults and 249,0000 teenagers aged 13-18), radio, a campaign website and digital advertising, and localized proactive PR aimed at generating news coverage.

The campaign aims to:

  • EDUCATE about secondhand smoke and its harms, and highlight that what many smokers are currently doing (smoking at the door or window, or smoking when children are out of the house) still isn’t enough to protect children.
  • ENCOURAGE RE-ASSESSMENT: The only way to fully protect children is to take any smoking right outside.
  • Provide DIRECTION AND SUPPORT, by giving people the necessary information to enable them to change their behaviour, which includes tips and local quitting support on the website.

Northumberland National Park Authority is very pleased to announce the opening of its £14.8m state-of-the-art visitor centre on Hadrian’s Wall. Our natural parks are for everyone and a key part of our vision for The Sill is to allow people of all ages and backgrounds to explore our landscapes and heritage. You are invited to visit on Wednesday 19th July ahead of the official opening on Saturday 29th July. The visit will last one and half hours and consist of a guided tour, activities and refreshments.

The Sill, which is the UK’s first National Landscape Discovery Centre, is the result of an innovative partnership between Northumberland National Park and YHA England and Wales and has been made possible by National Lottery players through a £7.8m grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).

The Sill is the single most significant initiative to be undertaken in rural Northumberland in a generation and will transform how people engage with landscape, nature and the great outdoors.

The Sill is the perfect gateway for people of all ages to explore and enjoy the landscapes, history and rich culture of Northumberland and the wider region and we hope you can join us to realise our ambition.

The SpLinter Group is a user-led group run by and for young adults with specific learning difficulties and disabilities. The group organises social events, projects, learning opportunities, and is developing a social enterprise ‘Waffling On’ which combines selling waffles at market stalls, fairs and festivals with raising awareness about the issues facing people with learning disabilities. The group been successful in receiving funds for a new RAP (Rural Access Project) for North Northumberland.

The group is looking for someone with real commitment to a user-led approach and some knowledge of learning differences and disabilities to support members of the SpLinter Group to continue to run and manage their own programme and, in particular, to work alongside the group's paid Project Workers on the new RAP for the North of Northumberland.

HAREF

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a HAREF Network Co-ordinator within Newcastle CVS, based in the centre of Newcastle.

Newcastle CVS is the major infrastructure body supporting the voluntary and community sector in Newcastle and Gateshead. We have a particular focus on tackling inequalities. We were approached by HAREF (Health and Race Equality Forum) earlier this year and it is now moving to be part of Newcastle CVS. We are committed to supporting the HAREF network to continue its effective practical and strategic work. This post will deliver part of the work within the Newcastle and Gateshead CCG contract and also further develop the HAREF work, particularly into Gateshead. The HAREF Network Coordinator will develop and sustain the HAREF Network in order to influence commissioners and service providers in order to reduce health inequalities in Newcastle and Gateshead.

The applicant should have an understanding of the challenges and benefits of working with different communities, and an appreciation of community development work, particularly with people from minority / marginalised groups. They should have good communication skills, both verbal and written and have a flexible approach to their work. This role is essential to the future development of HAREF.

The post is on NJC scale SO1 £25,951pa pro rata for part time working (30 hours). A flexitime system is in operation.
