Cygnus Support – Cuppa, Chat and Campervan

Community Events
Date: 16 July 2018 10:00 - 19 July 2018 16:00

Venue: Various Locations

Join Cygnus Support in their campervan for a cuppa and chat about mental health and wellbeing. The purpose of the tour is to find out about mental health and wellbeing needs within rural communities across the county and how we can improve our services; counselling, coaching, domestic abuse and sexual violence services. We have divided the county into 4 ‘corridors’ and will be visiting each in the week commencing 16th July: Monday 16th July: Otterburn, Rochester, Byrness and Kirkwhelpinton Tuesday 17th July: Ingram, Wooler, Milfield and Kirknewton Wednesday 18th July: Rothbury, Harbottle, Alwinton and Alnham Thursday 19th July: West Woodburn, Bellingham, Greenhaugh, Falstone and Kielder We already know some of the issues faced in rural areas including around transport and accessing services.  Anecdotally we also hear that mental health, domestic abuse or sexual violence services may be viewed with suspicion and that people may not want to be seen to be seeking support. We are hoping that the opportunity to come along and have a ‘cuppa and a chat’ will help us to explore the issues in greater detail so that we can not only plan our own outreach service better but also feed in the information gathered to other partners so that we can all use the insight. We are promoting the tour widely as we want as many people as possible to hear about it and have the chance to take part. Many thanks in advance for your support.
