Could changes to the tax system help charities do more? VONNE will be partnering with NCVO to host this consultation event and will be posting more details to their website shortly.
The Charity Tax Commission has been established to look at whether charity taxation can be modernised to help charities make an even greater contribution to society.
Tax reliefs for charities are estimated to be worth £3.77bn a year, the main ones being business rates relief, Gift Aid and VAT relief. They support charities in their vital work in meeting a huge range of needs and delivering help to disadvantaged communities and those on the margins of society.
However, the last comprehensive review of charity taxation and reliefs took place over 20 years ago. Since then, the voluntary sector and the environment in which it operates have changed significantly.
The commission has issued a call for evidence to shape its final recommendations to government.
